Bolzano & surroundings - South Tyrol

The legendary town of Bolzano / Bozen, considered the doorway to the Dolomites, is surrounded by vineyards. This regional capital, which hosts a multitude of cultural events, boasts a fascinating historical centre, which is also a favourite for shopping and for visiting museums, such as the Museum of Archaeology, home to  Ötzi. Castel Roncolo / Schloss Runkelstein, Castel Mareccio / Schloss Maretsch and Castel Firmiano / Schloss Sigmundskron embody culture, nature and history. From Bolzano / Bozen there are three cableways up to Colle / Kohlern, San Genesio / Jenesien and the Renon / Ritten.

On foot, by mountain-bike or on horseback, a sunny outing across the meadows and through the  larches of Salto-S. Genesio / Salten in Jenesien will reward visitors with an idyllic sense of peace and quiet.

The famous earth pyramids on the Renon / Ritten are well worth a visit. This plateau, situated in the heart of South Tyrol, is a perfect natural idyll and ideal for family holidays.

Between the 3,000 metre high ice-covered peaks in the central Alps, and the steep rocky bulk of the Dolomites, lies Val Sarentina / Sarntal. Here, amid mountain landscapes that still preserve intact all of their natural peace and untainted beauty, visitors can forget the chaos of city life and workaday stress.
